Reminder: The Green is mowed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Mowing is usually complete by 10 AM.

•      Sunday Afternoon - a social Draw, with Tea halfway through the 12 ends - a popular event. 1.15 for 1.30 pm start.. Now ended for 2008

Mixed Scotch Pairs - H & M Jones Trophy Tuesdays/Wednesdays  - Now complete .  Results here.


Mixed Triples Thursdays -   Now complete with 6 teams tied for first place.
 
 



COACHING
was available for all members every Monday afternoon from May to August with the exception of Holiday Mondays  -  Clinics, Structured Drills, Tactics, Strategies, etc.

In addition to working with new bowlers, the coaches can help experienced individuals - if you would like help, speak to a coach or attend one of the Monday afternoon sessions.

If you have an interest in working with our new bowlers, Bowls BC offers a course to get you certified as a Club Coach. NLBC will pay the registration fee for those interested in taking this course. Contact Donn Sherry  for details.

During May we were fortunate to have Gary Robinson of Parksville LBC offer 2 clinics to our members. Gary has accepted the role of Director of Player Development for the North Island. Using material from the "Go For Gold' program that he developed with the help of wife Jodie and son David, he conducted clinics for our members. The first was directed more for thirds and skips and the second was aimed at the play of leads and seconds. 24 club members attended each session which featured practice skills emphasizing shots needed to play that position. With both groups Gary stressed the importance of knowing your NATURAL LENGTH and the necessity of drawing within a metre of the jack. Gary left a handout which is posted on the bulletin board which indicates how proficient you should be in delivering the jack and getting your bowl close to the jack. Check these charts to give some direction to your practices. 
The club coaches were very pleased with the interest our members showed in attending these clinics.
