If
you have an interest in working with our new bowlers, Bowls BC offers a
course to get you certified as a Club Coach. NLBC will pay the
registration fee for those interested in taking this course. Contact Donn
Sherry
for details. **********************During
May we were
fortunate to have Gary Robinson of Parksville LBC offer 2 clinics
to our members. Gary has accepted the role of
Director of
Player Development for the North Island. Using material from the "Go
For Gold' program that he developed with the help of wife Jodie and son
David, he conducted clinics for our members. The first was directed
more for thirds and skips and the second was aimed at the play of leads
and seconds. 24 club members attended each session which featured
practice skills emphasizing shots needed to play that position. With
both groups Gary stressed the importance of knowing your NATURAL LENGTH
and the necessity of drawing within a metre of the jack. Gary left a
handout which is posted on the bulletin board which indicates how
proficient you should be in delivering the jack and getting your bowl
close to the jack. Check these charts to give some direction to your
practices.
The club
coaches were very pleased with the interest our members showed in
attending these clinics.
Here
are some pics from those sessions (report and pics from
