New to the game?

Those new to the game may try it out with one of our coaches, please see our contacts list.

Beginners have the use of club bowls for the first two years at no charge.  This will give the new bowler an opportunity to try out a variety of bowls before purchasing their own set.

We ask that flat-soled shoes (low- or no-tread with no heel) are worn to protect the green.

Clothing is casual, except for tournament play, when whites are worn.

Why Lawn Bowl

Lawn bowling is an ageless sport that is played by either sex on an equal footing.

Bowling has comparatively low physical demands when compared to other sports, and if you have good general health, it can be played up to the age of 100.

However, if you wish to play in competitions on consecutive days, good endurance and some physical fitness is required.

But why not bowl just for fun. Many club games are designed just so the social side of the game is enjoyed.

Volunteer Opportunities

We rely on the generosity, skill and time given by our volunteers to keep the Nanaimo Lawn Bowling Club up and running, green and in bloom.  To have a look at the volunteer opportunities available,  click here.
